Our Statement of Beliefs

  • 1. The Bible, in its entirety, is God’s inspired, infallible, inerrant word. In its original autographs (manuscripts), it is fully accurate, not only concerning spiritual issues, but also in matters of history and science. Why?

The bible teaches that God designed and created the universe and everything it, and that He is currently holding it together (Colossians 1:15-17).

The biblical worldview of an ordered universe following divinely orchestrated laws is the foundation for rational and methodical scientific research, where experimental evidence can be used to test and verify hypothetical explanations of the natural world.

Many successful scientists throughout history have approached their work with a biblical worldview (Graves, 1996), and this is still true of some scientists today (Ashton, 2003).

Modern scientific research that supports the biblical record has been published by several scientific organizations, including:

    Creation Ministries International, https://creation.com/

    Creation Research Society, https://www.creationresearch.org/

    Institute for Creation Research, https://www.icr.org/

Several Christian apologetics ministries are helping to educate people in creation science.  Some examples include:

    Answers in Genesis, https://answersingenesis.org/

    Creation Today, https://creationtoday.org/

    Creation Training Initiative, https://www.creationtraining.org/

  • 2. The universe and all that it contains, both living and non-living was designed by God and created out of nothing in six literal days as described in Genesis. Biological changes since creation have been confined within the created kinds. Why?

    a) Many scientists from the fields of biology, geology, chemistry, physics, and engineering have published reasons for believing in the biblical account of creation (Ashton, 2003; Carter, 2014).

    b) Even the simplest of life forms could not have evolved from a random arrangement of chemical compounds.  Modern technological advancements have shown that even single-celled organisms are far more complicated than Darwin could have imagined.  Cells are composed of complex molecular machines working together to perform a variety of complicated tasks necessary for biological functions such as digestion and reproduction (Carter, 2014).  In addition, cells must be able to code and store the information needed to build and repair these machines (Carter, 2014).   Genetic mutations will tend to cause deterioration of this information (Sanford, 2005).   These discoveries in the field of molecular biology have led some secular biologists to conclude that there must have been an intelligent Designer (Behe, 2006; Axe, 2016; Thorvaldsen and Hössjer, 2020).

    c) Micro-evolution has been observed in nature and can explain the variations of species, but not the origin of species. Micro-evolution is the change in species over time due to minor variations in genetic code within the DNA.  Changes that are less favorable in a given environment can result in the extinction of some species, while favorable changes cause other species to flourish in a process that is sometimes called natural selection (Carter, 2014).

    d) Macro-evolution is the theory that all of the created kinds share a common ancestor.  However, natural selection and mutation are insufficient mechanisms for the theory of macro-evolution (Sanford, 2005; Carter, 2014).   The similarities that are observed in the natural world cannot be scientifically explained as the offspring of a common ancestor, but are clearly seen to be the work of an intelligent Designer.

  • 3. The creation occurred several thousand years ago, not millions or billions. Why?

    a) Radiometric dating of igneous rock is based on faulty assumptions about the initial amounts of materials present in the samples.  The Radioisotopes and the Age of The Earth (RATE) project has shown that the dates assigned by radiometric dating methods are unreliable (DeYoung, 2005; Carter, 2014).

    b) Stratification of sedimentary rock layers can occur within a relatively short period of time.  Scientific observations of catastrophic events such as the Mt. St. Helens eruption and the Missoula flood have shown that granular particles can be quickly sorted into layers by fast-moving water.

    c) Some sediment layers have been found to contain polystrate fossils such as upright trees that vertically span multiple sedimentary rock layers.   Therefore, these sediment layers cannot be millions of years old.

    d) The fossil record is consistent with the biblical account of creation (Carter, 2014).  Soft tissue has recently been discovered in dinosaur bones, indicating that they cannot be more than several thousand years old.  Various hominid fossils are not evidence of intermediate forms in human evolution but can be explained as either Australopithecus (apes) or humans.

  • 4. The Noachian Flood, as described in Genesis, was a historic event, worldwide in extent. Why?

    a) The bible describes a flood that resulted from rain and the water from the great deep, covering the mountain tops and lasting over a year before the waters finally began to recede (Genesis 6:9 – 8:22).

    b) Geologic evidence of a catastrophic flood can be seen worldwide.

    c) Marine fossils have been discovered at high elevations.

    d) A catastrophic global flood would create changes in the climate.  The predicted climate changes could explain the ice age.

    e) The size of the ark described in scripture would have been sufficient to carry each of the created kinds.   Micro-evolution since the flood would result in the wide variety of species observed today.

    f) The exponential growth rate of the human population that is observed today is consistent with a small population at the time of the biblical flood about 4500 years ago.

    g) Many cultures that have historical references to a family saved from a global flood.

  • 5. Acceptance of the Lord Jesus Christ, who is God and Creator, is mankind’s only path to reconciliation with God. Why?

The One who created the universe and everything in it also created you, and He wants to restore the relationship that was broken through humanity’s sin.

    John 3:16

    Romans 5:14-19

    Colossians 1:15-23

    Romans 1:20

    Colossians 2:8
